In this interactive workshop we explore this theme accompanied by ancient wisdom embedded in fairy tales. \nIn most of the fairy tales that have survived to the present day\, we discover that the protagonists are young\, and that the main themes are focused around leaving home and finding one’s way in the world. Many of these stories finish with and ‘they lived happily ever after’. But what happens “In the Ever After” and how does this relate to the reality of aging in our contemporary society?\nWe will explore this through fairy tales from around the world where elders are protagonists. Most of the stories will be from Allan B. Chinen’s book “In the Ever After”. This workshop is experiential\, and participants will be invited to explore the story in depth and engage actively in the activities. \nStories have been with us since the very beginning of humanity when we gathered around the fire to listen to myths of creation to connect us with our inner selves\, our clan and the universe. Stories have accompanied us through dark times\, of war and plague and they are here to accompany us now\, with their medicine\, in this time of uncertainty. \nIn this workshop: \nWe will call upon the wisdom of this famous story to guide us. \nWe will experiment with tools from the world of Gestalt\, art therapy or psychodrama as we deepen into the symbolic language of the story of Peter Pan. \nWe will walk in the shoes of the different characters in the story and explore their back stories. \nWe will explore the themes that come up during the development of the workshop \nLearning objectives participants can expect from this event \nYou will learn how to work with the story of Peter Pan in a therapeutic setting \nYou will learn how to explore the characters in Peter Pan and briefly see how they connect to the Enneagram. \nYou will see how to work with some of the themes that this story may bring up in the group.

We will be working mainly with the version from the book “Women who Run with the Wolves” by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. \nWe will be working with the symbolic language of fairy tales and we will explore different aspects of self through creative story-based activities and the use of nesting dolls. This workshop is experiential\, and participants will be invited to explore the story in depth and engage actively in the activities. \nStories have been with us since the very beginning of humanity when we gathered around the fire to listen to myths of creation to connect us with our inner selves\, our clan and the universe. Stories have accompanied us through dark times\, of war and plague and they are here to accompany us now\, with their medicine\, in this time of uncertainty. \nIn this workshop: \nWe will call upon the ancient wisdom of this fairy tale to guide us. \nWe will experiment with tools from the world of Gestalt\, art therapy or psychodrama as we deepen into the symbolic language of the story of Blue Beard \nWe will explore different aspects of self to connect with our inner predator and inner guides. \nWe will explore how this story was used with a client in a therapeutic setting by using nesting dolls \nLearning objectives participants can expect from this event \nYou will see how this ancient fairy tale\, can be used with a client in a therapeutic setting \nYou will learn ways of exploring emergent aspects of self\, by working with nesting dolls and other symbolic objects. \nYou will learn how to explore the symbolic language of fairy tales.

DESCRIPTION:Working Creatively with Stories: Matryoska and Her Nesting Dolls\n\n\nThrough storytelling and tools from the worlds of Gestalt and art therapy we explore the traditional Russian story of Matryoshka. \nThe Matryoshka dolls (or nesting dolls) are associated with the mother figure and with family and fertility. They can be seen as a traditional representation of the mother carrying a child within her and as a representation of a chain of mothers carrying on the family legacy through the child in their womb. They can also be considered different aspects of self and are a good way to work with the inner child and other aspects of our Inner Family System. \nIn this workshop: \n\nWe will call upon the wisdom of this traditional story to guide us.\n\n\nWe will use tools from art therapy to accompany us as we deepen into the inner layers of Matryoshka.\n\n\nWe will see how the Matryoshka dolls resonate with us emotionally on a personal level.\n\n\nWe will explore ways to work with the nesting dolls in a therapeutic setting\, helping clients to explore the different layers. We can use the dolls to explore the past\, family life\, relationships and aspects of the self.\n\nThis workshop is experiential\, and participants will be invited to explore the story in depth and engage actively in the activities. The story and accompanying exercises could then be used safely with young people and adult clients\, face to face or online. \nStories have been with us since the very beginning of humanity when we gathered around the fire to listen to myths of creation to connect us with our inner selves\, our clan and the universe. DESCRIPTION:Fairy tales have been transmitted orally through many generations and have survived the test of time because they speak of essential human experience which touches us on a subconscious level. The fairy-tale journey into unexplored worlds is paralleled by an inner journey into unexplored regions of the self. As we travel in the shoes of the characters\, we observe how they resolve conflicts and overcome obstacles in their paths\, and this can help us do the same in our everyday lives. \n\nIn this workshop\, we explore the classic fairy tale of Cinderella on a personal and professional level.\nWe will look at the background to the story\nWe step into the story through role play or visualization.\nWe see how the story resonates with the group.\nWe explore the characters and the symbolic language to see what they may reveal.\nWe look at creative ways of working with the story with our clients
